An LDS Bible in Spanish

The Church is going to release a Spanish edition of the Bible in September. This is the first time that the Church will release an edition of the Bible in a language other than English.
Not surprisingly, the Church is using the Reina-Valera text in this edition. This text is based on the translation by Casiodoro de Reina with a latter major revision by Cipriano Valera.
Reina was a Catholic Monk, who rejected the notion that the scriptures should only be in Latin, left the monastery, went to Switzerland, translated the Bible into Spanish and in doing so caused such anger against him that he was burned in effigy by Catholics in Spain.
I first learned about Casiodoro de Raina by reading the article on him that I found on line in the September 1972 Ensign, which I would encourage others to read. Why did I find this article? Because I was trying to gather information on Eduardo Balderas, who translated half the hymns into Spanish. He also translated the Pearl of Great Price into Spanish and assisted Antoine R. Ivins in translating the Doctrine and Covenants into Spanish. Brother Balderas was also the first person employed full time as a translator for the Church. He helped translate the Endowment ceremony into Spanish, the first translation of the ceremony, and for many years would always show up in Mesa when the main company of Spanish-speaking Saints arrived, both to assist in various temple ordinances (I think he may have been a sealer), and to give patriarchal blessings in Spanish.
I know he was a sealer in the Salt Lake Temple, I am not sure if he ever performed that ordinance in Mesa. Brother Balderas also served as the translator for President Harold B. Lee's talk in 1974 in which he counseled the saints to build zion in Mexico. This talk had a profound effect on the saints their, giving them a new view of building Zion where they were. The words were President Lee's, but many of the Mexican Saints when they think of the message probably hear them in the voice of Brother Balderas.
Brother Balderas died in 1989. However his high views of Caisodoro de Reina and his translation of the Bible clearly live on in the Church. This in no way surprises me.
However the new Spanish edition will have chapter headings and footnotes, most excitingly the ones referencing the Joseph Smith Translation. There is also some revision of the 1909 Reina-Valera text, this in turn being one of a long line of revisions in the Reina-Valera text.

I hope someone speaks on this at general conference. I would also not be surprised if the Church holds a satelite broadcast to Spanish-speaking members in the upcoming months on this new edition of the scriptures. Probably the coolest thing about it is cross-references to all the standard works.
