This is the question I ask myself after having made comments on the Deseret News board. Here is a link to a particularly disturbing set of interchanges. http://www.deseretnews.com/user/comments/1,5143,705306672,00.html
I have to explain that my first comment was in response to a since removed diatribe aginst the church as being full of "bigrotry and illiterate teachings".
Is there any justification for this hate directed at me? Is it just the fact that people hate the Church and those who seek to follow the Prophet of god, or have I in my statement violated some basic rule of decorum that proves that I need counseling?
I really want to know.

I haven't read most of the posts there, because unfortunately, the DN is starting to get a lot of readers from the Trib, and it's turning quite nasty lately. So I'm not technically in a position to give a proper theory.
But honestly, I think you take things too much to heart, and you're letting it get to you when you probably shouldn't. These people are filled with hate toward the church, its leaders, and toward members who stand up for their beliefs. They make cruel comments, which is much easier to do in an online format, because you don't have to look the person in the face when you insult them. They ignore the truth when they hear it, unless it makes them angry, which happens a lot. If the church wasn't true, there wouldn't be so many people making such nasty comments all the time. People wouldn't fight so hard against it if there wasn't a reason to. There's a reason the church, and its members, seem to be at best a punchline and at worst, considered the spawn of Satan that need to be wiped out asap.
Since I didn't read most of the comments, I don't know what exactly was said that got you so down, but try not to take it to heart. There are a lot of people who do appreciate what you're saying.
